ALFRED - Newly elected County Commissioner Justin Chenette, returning Commissioners Richard Dutremble, Robert Andrews, and returning officials District Attorney Kathryn Slattery, and Registrar of Deeds Nancy Hammond all took their oaths of office prior to the county commission meeting. Chenette also made history during the swearing-in ceremony, becoming the first Millennial and only openly LGBTQ+ individual elected to serve on the York County Commission. During the meeting, Commissioner Dutremble was selected as this year’s chairperson while Commissioner Chenette was selected by fellow commissioners to a term as vice chairperson. “I really appreciate the trust of my colleagues in taking on a leadership role so soon into my term,” says Chenette. “There are a lot of opportunities ahead to work together on advancing good governance and increasing public engagement within county government.”
