sheriff's officeThe Sheriff’s Office has three major divisions; Police Services, Corrections, and Civil Process.
The Police Services Division is responsible for providing law enforcement protection for fourteen rural towns within York County that do not have organized police departments. The Deputies that comprise the Police Services Division investigate thefts, burglaries, domestic violence complaints, motor vehicle complaints, and numerous other violations of state and federal law. The Corrections Division is charged with the care, custody, and control of inmates that are being held pre trial and post conviction at the York County Jail. The Civil Process Division serves civil paperwork ranging from small claims, divorce, foreclosure, Department of Health and Human Service’s matters, and other court related paperwork that is served within York County. District attorney
District Attorney Kathryn Slattery, of Old Orchard Beach, and her attorney and support staff are dedicated to prosecuting criminal cases and civil violations that occur in the towns and cities of throughout York County. The attorneys and support staff are assigned to work in one of the four offices located in each of the York County courts: York District Court, Springvale District Court, Biddeford District Court and the York County Superior Court located in Alfred.

emergency management
York County Emergency Management Agency's goal is to lessen the effects of a disaster on the lives and property of residents, municipalities, and businesses of York County through coordination and training on the four phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. They act as the liaison between local, state, and federal agencies.

A coordinated, cost-effective organization committed to enhancing the quality of life through a collaborative, regional approach to delivery of fire protection, technical rescue and emergency medical services that aid, protect and support our residents and visitors. York County Hazardous Materials Response Team is organized a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), York County agrees to maintain a Decontamination Strike Team (DST) supported by MEMA.

The Registry of Deeds is the official recording and filing office for all legal documents affecting real estate in the county. The office of the Registry of Deeds serves the public, and is the custodian of all land records.

The Probate Court has jurisdiction over a variety of proceedings including but not limited to the probate and administration of decedent's estate, wills and trusts, contests over and construction of wills and trusts, guardianship and conservator ships concerning adults and minors, name changes, adoptions, and related termination of parental rights cases.
The York County Registry of Probate houses and archives original records dating back to 1687, and processes and schedules probate and civil filings and proceedings in support of the Probate Court's operations in care of its elected judge. The York County Registry of Probate also serves as a certified passport application acceptance facility. Its staff consists of a full-time, elected Register of Probate, a full-time, appointed Deputy Register of Probate, and 4 full-time employees.

The Finance Department is responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting for York County Government including annual department operating budgets, grants and special revenue budgets, tax assessments and other receivables, accounts payable, employee payroll and benefits, and long and short term debt.
County Treasurer
Our County Treasurer is an elected role with 4-year terms who maintains the county's financial records and is also responsible for investment of tax revenues. Bobby Mills is the current County Treasurer.
County manager
The County Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of York County government and all of its departments, agencies and staff. The County Manager advises the commission on policy matters; implements policies established by the commission; and provides facts and data on county government to other governmental agencies, the state legislature, interested groups and individuals.
