It is a true honor to be your voice at the county level. My governing philosophy has been and will continue to be that this is your commission seat, not mine. I work for you in this role. It is a duty I take seriously. Now that I’ve spent two years as your commissioner, I’d like to highlight some of the good work taking place and some of the items I was able to accomplish thus far on your behalf.

During my term as vice chair, I shepherded through key wins that I promised on the campaign trail including shifting meeting times later, finalizing and launching a new county website, voted to create a media specialist position to help publicize county actions, and pushed county administration to produce an annual report detailing department data and program highlights.

Our coastline should always demand our full attention. It’s critical that every level of government come together with solutions and actionable steps we can take to protect our homes, livelihoods, and natural resources. That’s exactly what the 6th annual Saco Bay Symposium tackled. Honored to join other government officials, scientists, and educators as a panelist for the discussion around how best Federal, state, local, and county governments can leverage our collective power to yield some good for storm mitigation, dune restoration, sand replenishment, jetty construction, and more.

Commissioner Justin Chenette said both Ring and Clark make good points and that he has communities in his district that straddle the urban/rural line.

“What I’m missing is the blueprint and analysis … and what that looks like,” Chenette said. “We need the data. I need to see the plan or a draft of what that looks like.”

York County Breaks ground on  Substance Use Recovery Center and First Responders Training Center

IT’S HAPPENING! Honored to join my fellow county commissioners in breaking ground on our new county-owned Substance Use Recovery Center and First Responders Training Center in Alfred. Both will help save lives.

Our 58-bed recovery center will offer a full continuum of care, from detoxification to residential programs, an intensive outpatient program and counseling, medication-assisted treatment, and case management. The training center will be where our law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, emergency managers, dispatchers and others can receive ongoing instruction to keep their skills in tip-top shape and learn best practices to help protect our communities.

These projects are funded primarily through American Recovery Plan Act funds, Congressionally Designated Spending, and grants. The construction timeline for completion is within the next 18 -24 months. These projects will represent a generational investment for our 29 communities throughout York County and demonstrate county leadership across our state.
